I have been planning this site for some time with the aim of being informative to the judoka, coach or martial artist. I hope the techniques and training methods are of value and you enjoy the site. The technique will be in the form of pictures video clips and step by step instruction how to make throwing and grappling work for you.
My judo career One Saturday afternoon in 1969 I started my judo career at the age of six. Bluecoat School in the centre of town I was a member of Kendal Judo Club. Over the next 38 the sport became my passion . I was 13 years old when Tony Macconnell came to live in my town , he was then British team manager and was to be the main influence in my competitive career. I was a member of the British team for 10 years , was a medallist at German open and had medals all over Great Britain and Europe. In the 1980’s trained at the full time centre in the town, travelling to Japan and through out Europe this without doubt was the high light of my sporting career.
Coaching The day I finished full time training Tony Macconnell (my coach) said to me don’t worry lad your gonna have a great time. You have been a great player but you will be a better coach than you ever was a player. And he was right. ( he would say he is never wrong and he is nearly right)
